1983 Motorola Dynatac 8000x

• The Motorola Dynatac 8000x was the first commercially available mobile phone
• Priced at $3,995 USD, the phone took 10 hours to fully charge and offered only 30 minutes of talk time

1989 Motorola MicroTAC 9800X

• This was the first truly portable phone featuring the innovative ‘flip’ design
• It sold for $2,495 USD and measured to be 23cm long despite its micro size

1994 Nokia 1011

• The Nokia 1011 was the first mass-produced GSM phone
• It could hold up to 99 phone numbers and offered a world-first: text messaging

1996 Nokia 8110

• The Nokia 8110 was also known as the ‘banana phone’ because of it’s shape
• It was made popular in the first Matrix movie

1999 Nokia 8210

• The Nokia 8210 was the lightest mobile phone available at the time
• It’s design was based on customization, with removable xpress-on covers available in six different colours

2004 Motorola Razr V3

• The Motorola Razr V3 was the thinnest mobile phone available
• It was initially marketed as a fashion phone.
• Once Motorola lowered its price, it became wildly popular selling over 50 million units by 2006

2006 LG Chocolate KG800

• The LG Chocolate was a ‘slider’ style phone
• It revealed heat-sensitive touch buttons on its face and a 1.3 megapixel camera

2007 First Generation iPhone

• It was the first smartphone model designed and marketed by Apple
• It ditched physical hardware buttons for a touch-based user interface

2010 Samsung Galaxy S

• At the time of release, the Galaxy S included the fastest graphical processing of any smartphone
• It was the thinnest smartphone at 9.9mm

2016 Google Pixel

• The Google Pixel was announced during the #MadeByGoogle event
• It features one of the best smartphone cameras
