Cash Converters were the original major sponsor of the Western Reds when they were in the National Rugby League competition in 1995. When the competition changed to the NRL the Western Reds were closed down, which ended Cash Converters involvement in the game at the time.
The connection was re-established in 2009, when Cash Converters became involved with Rugby League in WA as the major sponsor of the Under 18 “SG Ball” team that competes in the “SG Ball Cup”. Cash Converters became the new major sponsor of the Under 18 side and Rugby League in WA, and as a result our name has been synonymous with Rugby League in WA for some time.
Cash Converters sponsorship of WARL enables them to have a team to compete in the SG Ball Cup each year. It also helps to develop and grow the code in WA by building awareness of the sport and contributes to developing young rugby league players. WARL run a West Coast Pirates Junior Academy each year which has been made possible with the sponsorship from Cash Converters.
“WARL are extremely grateful and appreciative for the support and loyalty demonstrated by Cashies over a long period of time. In particular, to CEO Peter Cumins who is a veteran of Rugby League and is passionate about the game. Without the Cashies partnership it’s fair to say we would not have been able to achieve the positive results we have achieved over the last year, in terms of showing genuine growth and development and boosting the profile of the game in the State. In doing so, we have been able to enhance our prospects of entering an expanded NRL competition over the next few years.” John Sackson, WARL, CEO.
